Frequently Asked Questions

If your question isn't answered below, please email us as nextlevelhoopsreno@gmail.com

Can families pay monthly?

Yes! We want to get as many girls in the gym as possible. If there are any creative ways you need to help fund the summer, we are here to help!

Can my friend or sibling use my membership?

No. Only athletes with current registrations and medical clearance forms on file will ever be allowed to participate in anything Next Level Hoops related.

Do your coaches get paid?

No! We are here because we love helping young athletes achieve their goals. Other programs have CEOs who run the program as their main source of income, and coaches who are paid hourly for their time. Although we are incredibly confident in our qualifications, we don't believe youth sports should be an avenue for adults to profit.

Do I need my own equipment?

$50 of the registration fee goes towards a new uniforms for the 2026 season regardless of what age group you have registered for. All you will need for practice and games is some shoes, water, and the eagerness to compete and learn!

Can we play for any other travel teams?

Of course! We want our athletes to compete as often as possible. None of our practices and games are mandatory. If you play on multiple teams, we will be cheering for you when you're not playing with us!

Are there any additional costs not included in the registration fee?

For local athletes, none whatsoever. The only potential additional fees are for athletes that play on our elite travel teams and are unable to provide their own rides and rooms. We charge $75 for a ride and $75 for a room per tournament for any athletes that can't get their own accommodations for the travel tournaments. We encourage our families to work together to help carpool etc. We have Next Level Hoops waivers for families to fill out if their athlete will be riding and staying with another family. We also can't afford to replace lost uniforms, so please don't lose it or you may have to buy a new one.

Can Next Level Hoops help with college recruiting?

Yes! We have had numerous Next Level Hoops athletes move on to college careers. While we are not a recruiting agency, we don't believe most athletes need one. We understand the ins and outs of college recruiting, and will help as much as possible get you an opportunity to continue playing beyond high school. Coach LeMay is currently a college head coach. Our one ask for athletes looking to play college is that they create a FieldLevel account and add Next Level Hoops coaches to their list. This will allow us to maximize our ability to help you along the recruiting process. Please ask us for more information.

What if I lose my uniform?

Please reach out to a coach, and we will look into ordering a replacement. The $50 uniform fee is less than we pay for uniforms even when purchased in bulk, so please know a replacement uniform may have an additional fee if we don't have any more in stock. If you'd rather use a reversible the rest of the summer to save money, that is fine with us!

Do we have to pay for tournaments?

No! Your registration fee covers all practices, games, scrimmages, etc. for the duration of the summer. A lost uniform or needing a ride or room for travel tournaments would be the only reason you will ever need to spend additional money during the season.

How does the travel team work?

Our travel teams will be tryout based, and we will know the travel rosters by the beginning of May. Any athletes that do not make the travel team will be on our local high school team, and that is perfectly fine. Our local team will get 5 or 6 local tournaments, and still have access to over 140 hours in the gym via practice time this summer. If someone on the travel team commits to college, is out of town for a tournament, etc. you may be asked to play in a future travel tournament if you were not selected previously.

Who will my coach be?

All of our coaches will spend time working with all of the teams. Coach Garrett and Coach Matt work primarily with our younger groups. Coach Metzger, Coach LeMay, Coach Wylie, and Coach Tiffany work primarily with our older groups.

Can graduating seniors play?

Yes, but only until you commit to a college! Once you get an offer that you accept, you will only be allowed as a practice-based player so you can stay in shape until you leave for school.

If you are an uncommitted graduating senior, we want to help you find a home next year. Please reach out to us ASAP to discuss the strategy. Email us at nextlevelhoopsreno@gmail.com and we will figure out a plan for you this summer. Costs will be altered based on how much of summer you are around for.

How big will my team be? Will I get to play?

Summer basketball is for getting better as an individual. Winning tournaments is awesome, but you play in the offseason to be selfish. You deserve to get better, and that requires a lot of playing time. We limit our rosters during tournaments to 8 or 9 players to ensure maximum playing time for all of our athletes. There can be exceptions to this, but only in cases where teams are struggling to finish tournaments. We have had seasons where our younger teams will have players unable to complete weekends, no-show games, etc. and this forces us to add those players to larger teams to ensure the girls that are committed to playing have their deserved opportunities to play. If you are showing up to the games ready to play, you will never have to worry about playing time!

What if I have an issue with my coach?

Although summer basketball is meant to be fun, we still hold high expectations for our players. This is not a summer camp. We are a focused basketball program aimed at helping out athletes become better players. There should never be issues regarding playing time, because our coaches are all instructed to get everyone on the roster plenty of playing time. Exceptions are made for players that never attend practice and are unable to keep up in games. We can't ask our coaches to lose a game in order to play someone that is competing too far beyond their ability level. Although practices are not mandatory, the coaches are coaching to win the games. If you feel like your athlete is being treated unfairly, another issue arises, or you'd just like to talk to Coach LeMay or Coach Metzger, please email us directly at nextlevelhoopsreno@gmail.com and we will do our best to get the situation resolved.

Can I get a refund?

Full refunds will never be given out by Next Level Hoops. We pride ourselves on being the most affordable basketball program in Reno for what we offer. We average 6+ hours of high-quality practice over a 20+ week season. With a minimum of 120 gym hours offered, our season rate works out to at most $5/hour for just the practice time. You can't find a rec center in town for cheaper than that, and one-on-one or group training rates would be at least 10x that cost. Most other programs in town charge an additional tournament fee for the tournaments you play in. Our initial season fee covers all practices and games,  and we are very confident in what we provide.
